Made over a model of your own teeth, not softened in a kettle.
Precision-Fitted Sports Mouthguards for Comfort and Protection
A custom mouthguard is formed over a model cast from an impression of your actual mouth, so it sits securely during play. A chemist mouthguard is a stock blank you soften in hot water and bite into, which leaves its thickness wherever your bite happened to push the material.
What it can and cannot do
No mouthguard makes dental injury impossible. What a well-fitted one does is spread the force of a knock across a larger area instead of concentrating it on the teeth that took the hit.
How it's made
One appointment to take the impression, then the guard is made here in our own laboratory, then you collect it and we check it in the mouth. Ring us with your season dates. The practical thing is to start before the first game rather than after the first knock.
Juniors, braces and appliances
A child's mouth is a moving target: teeth are erupting and the jaw is growing, so a guard that fitted at the start of one season may not fit by the next. Plan on checking the fit each season. And tell us about braces, crowns or a partial denture before we start, because a guard over orthodontic appliances is made differently.
